Message is: I am the widow of Michael Schmidt who served in Vietnam in 1968. He was from North Tonawanda NY and graduated from St Lawrence U (Canton NY) in 1965. We met when I was a student there. Mike went to 'nam as a 2lt and served there for only about 2 months before he was hit during an action in the A Shau Valley. the casualty date was 28 April 68. He was succesfully medevaced out and spent a couple of months in an army hospital in saigon before he was sent home, then spent 9 months in recovery at Walter Reed Hosp in DC. We were married in 1969 and he died of service related causes in 1971. I got his name added to the Wall a few years after it was dedicated. I would like to hear from anyone who knew him (either in nam or at walter reed) in particular from anyone who served in his command or may have some knowledge about the action on 28 April 68 . He mentioned a couple of guys who saved his life (thanks you two if you are out there) that day. For anyone who mig! ht not recall the name he was tall (6' 2 before the injury but only 6'1 on one side after-- his joke) had black hair and john lennon glasses. and of course a moustache (after being in country) and he had a great sense of humor. Hope someone out there knew him and wants to talk. �
