We were members of the Army Security Agency, but were called radio research in Vietnam. Message is: Willie and I were good friends and when I had returned from leave in the States I was told of an accident. A couple of doped up red necks had fired off a Willie Peter flare into a steel drum of trash. It blasted out of the can and went across yard and hit Willie in the arm; burning through and down on to of a ton of explosives inside his track. He picked it up and through it out before it could detonate. He lost his arm at the shoulder but I never saw him again. I know he was from Georgia.

Message is: Have been trying to locate this man for some time, as he let me share his tent while I was forced to seek refuge on Bull Fisher's Hill, the C.O. of 2nd Bn. 4th Marines located in Chu Lai South Vietnam. This individual showed me around the hill, and took me to a open briefing by Lt/Col. Bull Fisher, which he ended by telling us we would be 100% alert because of heavy activity in the area, which included the bullet holes in our jeep forcing us to take refuge on his hill! As he said, we would in all likelyhood be hit, and by god we were. All my gear had been turned in to my previous unit that I left on the beach when we landed on 12 or 13 April, 1966. I just want to see how this young man is today, and have him validate my memories of the events as I recall them, and to tell him that I do remember him, and have been told that this is his name.
