These two soldiers (Alexander and Ralph) were assigned to a Medical Detachment in Bayreuth right after the war ended. They now are in their late seventies we think. They helpped a family by the name of Strohlein. The oldest boy Heinz had his leg blown off in a play area were children gathered. Several children were killed also. These two soldiers were a great help to the family. The family consisted of Heinz and three sisters, Margot, Monika and Christa the youngest. The mother washed and iron uniforms for the two soldiers. The two were very grestful. When they returned to the states they sent a first commuinion dress for the oldest daughter Margot. My wife Margot of 43 years would like to make contact with them if they are still alive or their children to see what ever happened to these wonderful GI's.

I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MY MOTHER THAT HE DIDN'T LIKE BEING AN MP AND THAT HE REQUESTED TO BE MOVED TO THE MOTOR POOL AND THAT THAT REQUEST WAS GRANTED. HE WAS SIX MONTHS OUT FROM ETS WHEN HE WENT OVER THERE AND ARRIVED IN OAKLAND TO OUTPROCESS IN SECOND WEEK OF JANUARY 1966. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT HE WAS NOT THE SAME AFTER HE RETURNED. I BELIEVE HE MAY HAVE HAD PTSD. WHEN I WAS EIGHT YEARS OLD, HE TOOK HIS OWN LIFE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT MIGHT HAVE HAPPENED TO HIM OVER THERE. Message is: Richard tripleet and I served in the 73rd SAC as aircraft mechanics in the grade of Spec 4. Our base was Long Thanh North. After the unit was disbanded, March 1972, he went to a CAC unit either in Saigon or Long Binh (I don't remember correctly) and myself I went to the 7/17th Aircav in An Son (Lane heliport). Both units were part of the 1st Aviation brigade. By chance, after returning from 'Nam, we both served as members of the 4th Infantry Div. in Ft. Carson, Colorado, and even shared the same room in the same unit. Richard got discharged (sometime in 1973) and went back to California; Bakersfield if I remember correctly. I had re-upped and went to Ft. Rucker, Alabama, to get back into Aviation. Tanks was not my cup of tea! Ever since I have lost contact with him. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
