The facts I give and answers to questions I ask are out there. Somebody knows. My name is Michael S. Moore. I'm trying to get information about people I knew and units I was with in Nam. I was there from March 67' through TET 68'. The Unit I was sent to was 1/30th Artillery.155's. They were north of Bong Son at LZ English. Across Highway #1 was LZ Dog and a few clicks north were LZ Pony and LZ Mustang. My MOS was 82"C"20 Artillery Survey. When I arrived a cherry,the hills were full of surveyors. Soooooo The Army, that we've all come to know and love, where a cook can be a doctor, they (thank God) sent me to the 1st Cav. outfit on English to call fire missions. Mortar, Duster and Quad 50's. I believe the 1st Cav. unit I called for was out of An Khe. The man in charge was (please work with me on my spelling) Colonel Dubea or Dubhea or Dubia ????? We were in Headquarters at English. After English, we made a quick run for the border. Up to Phu Bai, Hue and Dong Ha. I was probably the shortest guy in my unit when we went north. As things were a tad HOT, when they told me I was heading home, I didn't ex- change a lot of names and addresses. I went to Chinook to Caribou to C130 to Jet to drinking. Back to Alabama. If anyone can tell me the 1st Cav. Unit I might have been with on English and "way up north".I will certainly appreciate it. Message is: I just today found out more of what happened to my friend Guillory (Hubia Jude Guillory) in the A Shau Valley thirty years ago. I got my first computer a few days ago and was shocked to see information on the last day of his life when I typed in his name. We were friends. Together through basic training at Fort Polk, also through advanced infantry training, then in Vietnam, we were in the same infantry squad. He was so charismatic a leader, everybody liked him and wanted to walk patrol with him. He`d keep you in stitches. He was killed with David L. Scott and Daniel Martin Kelley, bodies never recovered. I was in the same squad, on patrols together until shortly before that day. I go to find his name on the wall every time I`m in Washington and I feel overwhelmed with sadness, like today. I was called snuffy because I chewed tobacco back then. I was one of the youngest soldiers there. We lost a young man in attenna valley by the name of Tony. Staff SGT Bottoms was medivac out after getting shot through the side. I was wondering if he made it out alive. There was a man by the name of Couch who was a great point man and a youg black man by the name of Shaw who was also a great point man. They would always compete to get to walk point. We were volunteers in the Recon Pltoon who came from different units and were attached to Echo 4th Bn, 31st inf, arty unit because they had no infantryman, we were their recon unit.

Message is: Richard C. Wilmont was a Major, Ranger, Airborne, LRRP. He returned to command general staff college at Ft. Lavenworth, Ks in June 1968. Message is: eric and I served together in a little town outside Qui nhon(not sure of the spelling,sorry) we were on a gun truck called big red and were attached to the engineers as security when they would build a bridge etc. He was from bell gardens, calif. a suberb of LA. and lived with his mother.unfortunatly around dec 70 he was busted for drugs and I believe did a couple of months in the brig upon return to the states. I m not even sure if he is still alive. He brought a bad drug problem home with him, which i know he didnt have when he got there!!!
