Message is: I hope you can help or point me in the right direction. I was part of the 1st battalion, 83rd Artillery from April 1966 till my release from service in November 1967. We reformed the unit and went to Vietnam in October of 1966. We arrived in country 10/31/66 as a unit, HQ, Service, A, B, C batteries. We were 8 inch and 175 mm self-propelled(not that we moved much). We were in IV Corps with the Australians in a place called Nui Dat on an old Michelin rubber plantation. We were about 25-30 miles north of Vung Tau in Phouc Tuy province. I have tried for years with no success to find out what became of the 83rd after I left(a couple of months before the TET offensive). I wrote to the Field Artillery association with no luck either. I would like to hear from anyone who served in the 1/83. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
