Message is: Wish to contact late brother's RTO in Company B, 1st Battalion (Airborne) 327th Infantry, 1st Brigade, 101st in RVN. Was told his name is Buckaloo, but not sure of the spelling. Have searched various databases for him, to no avail thus far. A few RVN vets have offered some good suggestions, too. Possible spellings include Buckalew, Bucklaew, Buckaleew, & Buckaloo. You may know that this unit did not wear name tapes, and it is possible that Buck... was a nickname. I have searched www.militaryusa.com/... and found that it is not comprehensive. Have searched various telephone directories on the web, and have made many calls and talked to some very nice folks - but no RTO in B 1/327. The one Jim Bucklaew on the aforementioned database served in the 173rd. This RTO would have had the "P" suffix on his MOS. He most likely would have been 11B, 11C, 11H or another in the 11 (infantry) enlisted series. Message is: I was the signal officer in charge of the avionics detachment in support of the 135th. I was involved in several flights which were shot down, both in combat and during maintenance test flights. I supposedly was not injured, however, I have been experienceing serious back problems. My orthopedic surgon says that I have an "impact fracture" of my spine, and have developed serious arthritus around it. He feels that my injury was probably as the result of one of my crashes while working with the 135th Avn Bn. I'm trying to locate anyone who was there during this period, either US Army or from the Australians that were assigned to the unit. I need to get verification that I was in fact involved in these crashes, apparently walking away without an injury. It is absolutely critical that I have someone serve as a witness to my experience(s), because, even though my record clearly reflects the fact that I was on flight status at the time - because I was apparently not ! injured - there is no verificable entries in my official records about me ever being shot down, let alone seven times. Message is: Dick and I met and married while we were both stationed at the Presidio in San Francisco in 1965. I got out of the Army in February of 1966, he a few months earlier, he re-enlisted as a Warrant Officer(#W3155008)to become a helicopter pilot. He went to school at Ft. Wolters, Texas before I got out, I joined him there. He also trained in Dothan, Ala and Virginia before going to VietNam (not sure of date he left)maybe May 1967. We were divorced in 1968 and other than a short visit he had with my parents in Wichita in 1971 or 1972 (I remarried in 1970), I have lost track of him. He told them his leg was injured in VietNam so he can't fly anymore, that he worked driving a truck for a restaurant chain called Western Sizzlin' out of Oklahoma City, was remarried with 2 children (at least 1 girl) and divorced again by the time my parents saw him.

VA says that I do have shrapnel and suffer from PTSD but they say there is no evidence that it is from Viet Nam.
