Message is: I'm looking for Chuck Finfrock. He was stationed at Ft.Lewis prior to leaving for Viet Nam. He sailed out of the tide flats ot Tacoma, WA in 1966 with alot of men. He was a Sargent of his group, or possibly a 1st Sarg. They left here on a large cargo ship with lots of men and helicopters to Viet Nam. He drove a blue Ford that he left behind in Tacoma, WA with Karen. They had an apt. in Lakewood, just outside of McChord AFB before he left. He had dark hair combed back like Elvis. Great smile and went by Chuck. One of his running buddies was Kye Warming who was from Oregon.He would have a bear at the Retreat Tavern on 54th and South Tacoma Way in Tacoma after work. He was a gunner on a helicopter in Viet Nam, but can see him now doing police work or medical work like a parimedic. He was from the Illinois area or around there, and always talked about loving WA DC.When he came back from VietNam in 1967 he stopped over in Tacoma, WA to see Karen. She lived out in an Apt. i! n Spanaway, WA He went from there to see his folks.I would really like to talk to him again to see how his life turned out. His name is a great memory of him. He served a normal tour of approximately 11 months in Vietnam as a light-weapons infantryman and while in combat sustained mental and emotional anguishes. He suffers from PTSD. Message is: I am looking for Sgt Rinney for my father, Joe Dooley. I know some very sketchy information, but I will do my best. Sgt Rinney was with the 39th Eng LZ Dragon from '67-'68. My father says that he left sometime in December-January of '68. Sgt Rinney was an extrememly short, yet powerfully built man, of African-American background, who originally(possibly) was from Oklahoma area stateside. My father remembers an incident where 'Sarge' got into a fight with a PFC Decker where he beat him so badly the tent in which they were fighting fell down and collapsed! Sarge Rinney was the toughest man he ever knew, according to my father. If ANYONE at all knows of whom I am talking about, or even has some other little recollections about this person, please contact me..my father really wants to know what has happened to SGT Rinney. There were four people on board, ONE SURVIVED the crash and I don't know his name. One body was recovered,no name given. In July of this year my Father retd USAF MSGT Elmer Davis received a phone call from a family friend that said he was at the VA hospital in Chattanooga, TN and talked to a man there that said he was Marvin Phillips. Marvin's body was never recovered along with the pilot Capt. Henry Lee Mosburg. My Dad never believed that Marvin perished in the crash. This has been very hard on him. We were stationed on Okinawa when this happened and my Dad wanted to at least go to the crash site, but was never able to do this. On the reports that I have been able to get off the internet the crash site is not listed at the same place on the reports. Maybe you can find out who the survivor was and I can talk to him and get t! he information to my Dad. Or whoever rescued him and was at the crash site can give us more information on the crash site itself. My Dad is now 78 years old and I would like very much to help him put this to rest. Marvin was Daddy's Nephew. His sister Ruby's oldest child. Aunt Ruby has already passed away and Marvin's Dad David is in very poor health. I was born in 1972 and my father served on an Aircraft Carrier(USS ENTERPRISE) during the war. He was not involved in any hand to hand combat. All I know of the war I learned from friends who fought or from books. It somehow stays in my mind and for some reason I cannot let it go. I just finished reading "The Tunnels of Cu Chi, and have so much strong emotion about the things I learned. I know the war has been over as long as I've been around and that the book in itself is 15 years old. I just cannot explain my interest and amazement of the things I! 've learned and read. I hope I don't sound insensitive, on the contrary, I feel incredibly drawn to the men who fought, almost protective. So if you can help me in my search, it would be greatly appriciated.
