Message is: John Albert Fontaine, from Methuen Massachusetts was a Private First Class in the 1st Infintry. His tour stated on 01/11/66 and ended with his death on 04/24/66. He was my husband Joe's uncle. At the time of John's death my husband was just a young teen. John was the youngest of three brothers in a family that was very familiar with militry service. His death was taken extremly hard. John was everything to my husband, but after his death there was not much that the family was able to share with him about John or his time in Vietnam.It was just too painful for them, I guess. Many years have past and we now have a John of our own. We talk with him often about his great uncle and how there are so many similarities between them. During a visit to the Moving Wall in Stoneham MA (1993 or 4), we searched on a computer web site and discovered that someone was looking for John's family to correspond with, but the site went down. The info that I have may be pieced together but until I can get his original discharge papers this is what I have. CO C 5th BN 3rd infentry. 1st Batalion 28th infentry. He recieved 2 btonze stars for "THe machine gunner that swept Ninh" I was able to get two names that were on the training papers...EDDIE J CLARK and JAMES J. FITE.
