Message is: I just returned from a trip to Vietnam and met a young man (Long Yen Vo)who is looking for his father. His mother (Be Ba Thi Vo)states that his father is William Untalan who served as a Sgt (medic) with MACV Team 75 in My Tho in the 1968 - 1970 time period. This young man and his mother are not trying to re-establish a relationship. They simply want his father to furnish a statement that he is the father. This statement is needed in order for the young man to be approved for emigration to the USA. Since his father was from Guam, this young man does not display the normal American/Vietnamese features. He displays basically Vietnamese features. Because of this, the Vietnamese government will not declare him eligible for emigration until his father furnishes a statement. At the same time, the Vietnamese government basically treats him as American/Vietnamese in that they will not furnish him with the required governmental papers that would permit him to get a somewhat decent job in Vietnam.
