Message is: Back in Ferbuary or early March of 69 I was in a line bunker with two men I never new. We were in a fire fight and the bunker was hit with a whitephospheris round. The two guys in the bunker were hit and I was hit with scharpmetal. I pulled the two guys out and made our way up the side of the hill to a medic bunker. Both their heads were badly burned. I belive the same day they were both menavac out and I never saw them again. Iwas sent to my original Co 3/12. And was never treated for my wounds. The base was Ky Son South. My unit C Battery 2/17th FA (105mm) was over run on April 3, 1968 and lost 11 men mostly FDC. Looking for any infomation on this incident. He spent approximately 10 years in Vietnam. He was promoted to Col while in Vietnam. He flew U2's over Vietnam, Combodia and Laos. He was captured two times and escaped two times. He was injured very badly while in Vietnam by a land mine. He was tortured while a captive and lost one of his testicles. He married while in Vietnam and had a couple of children. It would be nice to know how and where they are. They are family. He won the Air Medal and many other medals. I really don't know the extent. Jack died a couple of years ago from throat cancer and injuries related to the land mine. At his death while they were doing an autopsy we were told he still had many pieces of metal in his body from the land mine. Just befor his death I asked him if he ever regretted anything he did - his answer wa! s unmistakenly NO. He was a warrior and damn proud of it. He spent almost 10 years in Vietnam - I am sure many people know him. I would like to hear more about him from those who knew him.
