Message is: My Dad, Robert(Bob) Dine, was a CBR instructor in Korea in 1960-1961. The VA wants a letter proving he had contact with chemicals to support his claim, I can't find anyone who knows anything about this time period, or the Chemical Section. The only evidence I have is a letter of commendation from Major George W. Connell thanking him for his service in making "technical computations for the completion of radiological fallout predictions, contamination plots, and briefings." My dad used to tell a story about mixing chemicals with molasses and spraying it from helicopters to see how it stuck to things on the ground. Unfortunately, my father is now in a nursing home and has severe dementia. He also suffers from skin cancer, diabetes, and bladder cancer, among other things. Looks to me like he was getting things ready for Vietnam. If there is anyone out there who can help, even memories of your experiences during this time period, please contact me. Message is: The Chaplain came to the aid of four wounded artillerymen on base piece while receiving heavy incoming mortar fire. All four artillerymen were wounded, two critically, yet although the Chaplain could have been in base camp or have stayed in his bunker as was SOP, he was in our parapet as the medic arrived or before. He helped provide care and he had the other end of a litter as he and I were carrying our gunner when the litter was moved 100+ meters to the aid station and then to the chopper pad for dustoff as we received continuing incoming fire. I want to tell this angel thank you on behalf of Ben Banuelos the gunner and myself, an FNG gun-bunny who was clueless since I was so new in country. The Battery XO lost his leg due to the severity of the shrapnel damage to his leg. His name is John Farley, and he is being sought as well, but all VA and DoD routes end with flags popping up saying this person is not to be found!?!

Mike Schotter, Sgt John Doyle (NCOIC Tanker unit) McComas, Stanley and numerous others whom time has taken their names away, but not their faces from my mind. Any transportation guys out there, there is a "GATHERING" of those who were drivers, gunners on guntrucks, jeepgunners, water craft and etc while in Vietnam @ Ft. It is most likely the same person. This soldier is listed on our Ector County Memorial plagues located at the Ector County Cemetery and on the grounds of the Courthouse. He is also listed on the Permian Basin Vietnam Memorial. I am attempting to write a biography on this individual for the Permian Basin Vietnam Memorial. Message is: My brother was killed in action on Dec 6, 1966. He was manning a 155Howitzer when the shell exploded prematurely and fell among the troops. He was the only soldier killed, but others were injured. I am desperately searching for someone who was there that day who can tell me what exactly happened. The Army gave us little information. I have located one of his friends, but I am afraid he may not be able to talk about it. I have not found out for sure if he was there when he died. He was on a volunteer mission and only had 14 days left. If anybody out there knows what happened, please let me know. We have wondered for 37+ years now. My dad and another brother have since passed away, so I would really like as much information as I can get to pass on to my children.
