Message is: Bob, I came across an old post that you had posted on the 196th LIB Association message board describing an incident about our Kit Carson, Ky, tripping a booby trap. I and two other guys I'm in contact with were on that patrol too. The other two guys are Harvey Van Hoven and Ron Heimerl. The dustoff chopper couldn't land because of the terain we were in so we lifted the wounded up to the medic on board the dustoff. As we were doing that the medic on board the dustoff lost his grip of one of the wounded guys on the wounded guy fell about 10 to 15ft to the ground.

I could see that he was a little uneasy about seeing me of all people because I thought that he was part of the conspiracy that happened in the company HHC 266 S&S Bn as to calling me (SGT. Harris) down from LZ English where I was running the POL/Class(1) yard and the Morgue for that out post only to have me as a black soldier placed in a position that sent me to LBJ and allowed their friend from the orderly room to get promoted instead of me. SFC Evens said that he had no part in setting me up, It was the Co and his gang that ran the company. Message is: I wish to speak with anyone who may remember my father. In 1998 he almost died after a serious car accident. He was left with some mild neurolgical deficits related to brain injury. He has lost small parts of his memory. The most important piece of missing information is the name of a woman in Thailand with whom he had a summer (68 or 69) relationship with. They kept contact by mail when he returned to Vietnam and kept contact until shortly after the birth of MY SISTER. He never spoke of his time until after we almost lost him. He carries a tattered photo of the woman at all times, it is all he has of her. He remembers so much about her and being so in love,he remembers that in a letter long ago she wrote to him that my elder sister was born healthy and looked "very white." My goal is to learn something, anything at all, that may bring me closer to learning something about (feels strange to say) my sister. I am not my father's firstborn child. She is. Afte! r my father revealed this "secret" to my family, I asked his permission to seek out information. Permission was granted, with fear and encouragement. Finding her or at least something about her is on my proverbial "list of things to do before I die." I am only 29 yrs old, but my life expectancy is questionable, as I have a very aggressive form of progressive multiple sclerosis. My five year old daughter has an aunt out there somewhere...I hope she survived and I'm sorry that she didn't have the ease of life that my generation so frequently takes for granted.
