He died here in the States in an Army hospital as far as I can find out. Gary was sent to Germany and I lost track of him after that. The last time I saw him was when him and his wife came in from Germany to Patrick's funeral. Message is: Spec. 4 Todd (I think his full name was Eric Todd)was involved in an incident while on guard duty at the ammo dump near Qui Nhon, Vietnam around Feb. 1967 to June 1967. He ended up exchanging rifle fire with another G.I. while in the ammo dump on guard duty one night. I was on guard duty the same night, saw the shooting, and need more information about this event. Who was the other G.I. involved in the shooting? What was the approximate date of the event? As I remember Todd had to pay 10 cents per round for the ammo he shot that night (I witnessed this). We were called "LOGGERS", even while in Vietnam, at least I was.I have only run into one member or this Bn.,and he was assigned to another company 149th Maint Co.I only remember a few guys from my co, because most of the time, I was assigned TDY to the HQ CO, 70th ENGRS,937th ENGR GP, Pleiku,Vietnam, Engineer Hill, as a liason heavy equipment mechanic-62B20. I do remember a WO CLARK,and a guy from Kentucky(I think)that was the 510th Eng wrecker operator. He got to leave to go home early, because he had to escort his brother 's casket home. He was assigned to the same hooch I was. Our hooch was almost at the end of the south side or the co perimeter, next to the last one. When we fell out for an 'alert', we went out the! south end of our hooch,into a bunker-type firing position.The 510th Engr Co supported all the units with heavy equipment and generators,a 4th and 5th echelon maint repair shop.We also ordered replacement and repair parts as needed for the heavy equip. and generators. I am very interested in hearing from Parents, other family members or any one that might have served with, or might know by friendship or aquaintence,any persons formally assigned to this unit or maint battallion. I am also interested in contacting any persons who might have been a "LOGGER", no matter what unit, bn,or group that he was assigned to.
