I was a 4 year old child when i saw my Dad the first time of my Life, it was in the Hospital and a Glass-window was between me and him, and i saw two Guy"s in Uniform did realize quick one was my Father!Even i was that young and unknow"n him my Heart told me who he was.I never forget this picture in my Life,its deep in my brain.But there are other things i dont forget also,like those nights when i wake up of his sreaming and saw him crying sitting in a corner of the room.Or that i was taking his hand and told him everything will be better soon.And i still remember that he told me about how hard it was in vietnam and that he only survive with my mum and me on his mind. And he show me his wound ,he was seriously injured at his stomach. In this days i was to young to understand now i do.Matter of fact my Mum and my Dad aint get a chance to live there love, the reason why its not on my to say in public. But i lost both of my parents on one day, my mum cause she need to make a decision and my dad cause he got to stay out of her life afther this decision.And nobody get back till today, she is still a life but could never show fellings again and was unhappy.The last time i saw him was before he did go back to vietnam the second time.I did try to forget all those what happen in my childhood, but sins my Man is down-range everything come up and now i knew what my Dad try to tell me and that True Love can keep you going on,and maybe one day i will knew if he are still a life or this war kill him. Message is: Looking for any information regarding my father, Staff Sergeant Farrell Smalley. I am looking to get in touch with any of the people who served with my father. Farrell served two tours of duty, one in the air and one one the ground. From awards that he received, it looks as though he served in both units simultaneously. He was also commended for work as Training NCO with Battery D Battalion (HERC) 1st Artillery in '66. He also served in other divisions at other times and received several medals and letters of commendation for training and meritorious service. My father did not talk about his experiences and being that he died in September '84, when I was fifteen, I would like to fill in the gaps, since I am no longer able to ask him. I was told by my mother that my Father came back from Vietnam a changed man. He was a more experienced soldier than most. (He served in Korea from around '51.) I was born after his service in Vietnam and only know what he was like afterward. I would like to gain some kind of sense of what may have happened there that changed him profoundly. Message is: I would like to find these friends we met while my husband was in the Air Force at Pope Air Force base,NC.in 1972.What I remember about Dennis Monahan was that he was a paratrooper at Ft.Bragg .His wife's name,Sharon and a son Kevin. We all lived at Spring Lake,NC at Wellon's Trailer Park. I know that they were originally from Corning ,NY. I think Kevin was about 7yrs. of age at the time. As time goes by,simple things seem to come back and I would love to be able to get in touch. I cannot remember the unit and we left POPE AFB around Jan. 1973. I hope this is enough info.
