We returned to the Towers just before midnight. Soon after that we came under a rocket, small arms and sapper attack. Your Tower was hit with a B 40 Rocket. You were seriously wounded and Cpt. Beegle pulled you down from the Tower. I believed all these years you didn't make it. I recently got in touch with Cpt. Beegle. He informed me that he had received a letter from you but unfortunately he had lost your address. It would be great to hear from you. (Boone) That same night I come down from the Towers to help out on your M88. The 50 Cal wouldn't load. We had to dump a can of 30 weight oil on the rounds to get it working. Then my M14 jammed. Message is: Tommy Joe and I corresponded for about a year. As I recall he was to be discharged the fall of 1969. He sent an article telling of the opening of an airfield and road up A Shau Valley, the road, Route 547, was built by the 27th Engineer Bn. to be finished by September. He circled that part saying "good-bye 27th Engr Bn". His APO was San Francisco, 96038 and R.A. 11752503 (?). He had a friend named Joe Bob and called his jeep "The Beast"--maybe they all did then. I only recall that he was from the east coast area. Unfortunately, I have yet to locate the letters from him. I hope to be able to at least know he is okay after all these years as I had never forgotten him. Thank you for any help or suggestions you may have for me. I need anything I can get on a murder that happened one night in a card game in Swan Loc between a Hispanic GI and a Black GI who was shot and killed. Message is: I am looking for information about my grandfather. I know very little about him, but her is the information I do know. His Date of Birth is 02/05/1916 or 1917 if this is not exact it's pretty close. He was born in Ohio, not sure what city. He married my grandmother,Violet Hilton, again Im not sure of the year or the state. They had three children Brenda Carol Johnson, Terry Johnson, Dixie Johnson. I believe he served in both the Navy and later the Army. He was recruited into the army to teach special warfare techniques, this took place before the green barets existed. My grandmother and him divorced. He remarried. I don't believe he had other children. I think that he has passed away. My mother believes that he may have worked for the CIA, FBI or was some type of spy. She told me that when she was about 10 (about 1955) she went to the pentagon with her dad. He appearently had to talk to some men and deliver some papers, but she was never told why. This is about all ! the information I have. My grandmother met him while he was stationed in Germany from about 1948 - 1951. He left in May 1951 to come back to the US as his mother had passed away. My mother was born in June 1951.
