His name is Gilbert Cecil Stockton Jr. He goes by Cecil, but he told me that the guys he was with didn't think he looked like a Cecil so they called him "Gil". He was a Specialist 4th Class with the 588 Signal Company attached to the 1st Air Cavalry. He was stationed at a camp in the A Shau Valley between Dong Ha and Quang Tri. The records were destroyed in a fire and he can't remember the name of the place he was taken to when he was wounded. The information I have is that he was wounded outside of Dong Ha. He took shrapnel to the head. He was taken to a field unit for the wounded by Staff Sergeant Farley. I have been going back and forth with the powers that be to try and get his purple heart for him. I think it would really mean a lot to him to finally get it. If this rings a bell with anyone please contact me. We were there end of April or the begining of May 1968. I was wounded by an incomming 122mm round. The medic caried me down the hill. I have been able to locate the plt sgt and two other men I served with. The reason I am looking is that I never received my Purple Heart. The Army has no record of me being wounded. I submitted letters written on my behalf from the three eye witnesses. But I need more, for the Army to reconsider my case. They say that I waited to long to apply for a correction of my records.

Message is: Reunion, Looking for anyone who served in this Company from June 1966 when it was formed at Ft Riley,Ks until it was de- actavated after Vietnam. The 758th was first attached in Vietnam, to the 29th General Support Group in early March 1967, in late March the second attachment was with the 266th S&S Bn, and April 1967 the third attachment was with the 610th Mainteance Bn. All these attachments took place at Phu Loi,Vietnam. My friend Ray was know at Ft Riley,Ks in 1966/67 and Phu Loi, Vietnam; as Sgt Raymond C. Kennedy. Ray who lives in Iowa, and me in Texas; reciently both talked to a Jim Weatherspoon, who served with Ray in the 758th at Ft Riley. Jim attended a reunion in 2000 for the 758th S&S, he would like to see another reunion take place. Ray's friends at Junction City/Ft Riley, Ks (I'm from here and knew these guys, they knew me as a Norma McClearn in 1967)they were a Pvt Jackie D. Kennedy from Deer Lodge,Tn, Richard Schoville from Wisconsin (Ray thinks), and a! n Orville R. Hart from Sterling,Co. I'm trying to locate soldiers that were in the 758th S&S,for Jim Weatherspoon,for another reunion (I told him I'd try and help him). So many records were burnt up in a fire at St Louis that the last reunion for the 758th in 2000 didn't have alot of information. Jim Weatherspoon did tell me most of his information came from a Lonnie Cox on the 758th S&S, that Lonnie served in also. Please, please, If you were stationed in the 758th S&S Co., write to me. Message is: When I was in Jr. High School I wore a bracelet for a Vietnam POW or MIA by the name of Capt. William Butler. The date on it is 11-20-67. I believe he may have been from Northern California. I never found out if he returned from the war, but I still have the bracelet & wish to give it to him or his family.
