Wall CXXVIII (128)

Richard J. Olsen
Wall CXXVIII (128)
Oil on linen. 120" x 80"

Shown below is the "Calculation" used for the painting.

"This calculation for Wall CXXVIII is composed of Polaroid film taken of existing paintings against the studio wall, then cut, made into a collage and edited by cropping with the window cut out in the Graph Paper and used for plotting the actual painting on linen. In this case, the irregular shape of the Polaroid was transferred to the linen by using the graph.

The graph paper is then used to estimate and figure out the size of proposed work, and used to plot the relative position of shapes on the lead-grounded linen canvass."
