The 9th went home and I got sent to An Khe where I was security guard until they got sent home and I got sent to the 526th replacement company in Danang, at the R&R center. I especially need to contact anyone that served with me on the Delta where we went on Eagle Flights, search and destroy, to the Plain of Reeds, the Iron Triangle, Hobo Woods, (some called it). After the M60 gunner, (can't remember name), was medivaced out from grenade booby trap, I took over the M60. In Danang, I played guitar for the guys, wrote some songs, (Politician Man was popular), my nickname was and is Cody, but some of the guys called me "Squirrel" because I was slightly nuts. Message is: Looking for anyone who knew my brother, WO1 David R. Kink, WORWAC 69-11 Ft. Wolters, C/1/9 1st Cav June to July 1969, KIA 8-3-69 (hometown Middleton, Wisconsin). On 7-21-69 while doing recon by fire, a ground explosion caused the loach in which he was observer to crash and burn,killing the pilot and gunner. David crawled out of the crash and died at 106th Gen. Hosp., Japan, 12 days later. I was eight years old at the time of his death and would like to know more about what kind of a person my brother was.
