One of the more recent projects dedicated on September 17, 1992 at Heck Park is the "Walk of Freedom." This brick walkway leading from the Kiosk over to and around the Huey helicopter consists of various sized bricks which were purchased by individuals and were engraved with personal information about themselves or a family member who served. Brick applications are normally inside the converted newspaper box next to the Kiosk. The beginning section is dedicated to and contains the engraved bricks of each and every Michigan MIA from the Vietnam war. A star is to be added for each one whose remains are officially identified and returned.
