He was also responsible for supervision of control procedures during the December-1972 combined navy, marine corps and air force attacks on Hanoi, & Haiphong. Message is: Lt. Cdr Robert H. Doremus was captured August 24, 1965 and held as a Prisoner Of War. In 1972, I wore the POW bracelet listing the name of Lt. Cdr. Robert H Doremus. The bracelet was not removed until February 12, 1973, when he was released by North Vietnam. The newspaper clippings, and bracelet have been kept safe for now 26 years. My oldest daughter is studing the Vietnam War in HS, and I showed her the clipping and bracelet. Message is: Looking for anybody who served aboard the Jones from 1959, homeport Key West, 1967? -1974 Pearl Harbor HI. In particular-1971-1974. The Jones was sold to the Indonesians in Dec of 74 and is still serving that country along with her three sister ships: 1034,35,36. I reported aboard in 71 right after her first visit to vietnam. We pulled another tour in June of 72 along with the several "missions" to the north sea of japan.
