Message is: I served with Art while we were both in VR-7 stationed at Moffett Field, CA. Art worked in the pay/per diem section. He applied for flight status and was accepted as a loadmaster serving on the C-130 Hercules. I was discharged in Jan of 1965 and lost contact with Art. Unfortunately, from a friend, I heard that on Art's first flight, the plane was shot down off the coast of Viet Nam. The official report was only that the plane was missing and was presumed to have gone down with no survivors. I have searched numerous casualty lists and have been unable to find his name. Message is: I was on the USS FORRESTAL CVA 59 with Howard fm 4/1961 to July 1963 in the CS-div. Signalgang. I know he had 5 children and his last child was born while he was in Nam. His wife called when he was KIA. Another shipmate escorted Howard home. His name was MYRL J. Fulkerson Navy. Howard was one of my best friends while we were on the Forrestal. I never got to talk to his wife again after she called about him being killed in Nam. I would love to talk with her or any of his family. Everytime I go to D.C.
