I know he and I had a connection that most people would not understand, unless one was as meticulous and particular about the integrity of his service to the Corps as I know we both were. Message is: Alan Young, his sister Donna Young and his mother Ms. Young were all originally from Indiana. My brother, sister, and I grew up with them in the 50's and 60's in Kerville, Texas. Alan joined the Navy in 1966 or 67 and was sent to Vietnam and attached as a Navy Medic to an unknown Marine Corp Unit in Vietnam. He was wounded in action in 1967 or 1968 and was sent back to the states. The last time I saw or heard from him was in 1968, as he stopped in Van Horn, Texas, to visit my folks, Buddy and Charlsie Gary, as he was coming back from Vietnam. He had a severe leg wound at the time and was using a cane. I can only hope that somehow after 31 years this message will reach this very dear friend.
