Message is: I was wounded on Sepember 5th, 1968. I was medvac to the BAS on hill 55 with a gun shot wound to my right hand. This corpman stop the bleeding because my little finger was completly gone. This man wrote a letter home for me because I must have told him to because this was my second purple heart in a very short time. Didn't want my parents to worry anymore. I found the letter just recently in a old shoe box he had written my parents explaining what had happen to me and that i would be leaving the country and coming home and would be ok.
