In loving memory

Every year, for Veterans Day, Mary and Garfield Langhorn polish the statue of their son, PFC Garfield Langhorn, outside Riverhead Town Hall. The soldier was killed in Vietnam on Jan. 15, 1969, when he threw himself on a live grenade to save his fellow soldiers. He was posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor.
