THIRD RECON

I was nineteen years old, when I joined the corps,
I didn't know exactly, what we were fighting for.
They gave me some training, sent me to Viet Nam,
Where I joined an outfit, known as third recon.

When I got in country, I saw things I've never seen,
I was nick the new guy, I was really green,
What I was about to do would put me to the test.
But I was with Charley company, and they were the best.

Third Recon made a man out of me,
Third Recon made me what I ought to be.
If I should be one hundred there's one thing I'll say,
I remember Third Recon, just like yesterday.

I did many details, and I did them well.
There is just one detail, that was purely hell.
You know I'm not complaining, and I ain't a quitter.
The job I hated most was, burning the shitter.

Third Recon made a man out of me,
Third Recon made me what I ought to be.
If I should be one hundred, there's one thing I'll say,
I remember Third Recon, just like yesterday.

Many years have gone by, since I've seen my friends,
The memories keep rolling on, it never ends.
Sometimes late at night, when I'm all alone.
We're all back together, In that combat zone.

Third Recon made a man out of me,
Third Recon made me what I ought to be.
If I should be one hundred, there's one thing I'll say,
I remember Third Recon, just like yesterday.
