We were a professional group of musicians and singers who served >in Vietnam at various times from 1968-1972. We were not a USO outfit. We lived off the local economy. We had no US or Australian base or travel privileges. Unlike the official USO entertainers in Vietnam, my group stayed in Vietnam for up to a year at a time. We travelled all over the Nam, from the DMZ to the Delta, by air and by road, often without a military escort. I would like to hear from Veterans who remember the Alpha Omega. I am also seeking copies of photographs and any other material Veterans may have of my group. Because of our unofficial status, the contribution >made by my group and others to the War effort in Vietnam has not been recognised - at least in Australia. Message is: I served with MWHG-1, 1st MAW on the compound at LZ-11 in Danang from February '70 thru January '71. Strange tour of duty; when I checked in the Chaplain Carnes found out I was a keyboard player in a rock and roll band and drafted me to play the organ every Sunday at the 1st MAW chapel on the compound. . . three services each sunday, Lutherans at 9AM, Protestants at 10:30AM and Catholics at Noon, which was tough following a long night at the NCO club where Ms Beau would fix some nasty Black Russians. Plus I had to show up for the memorial services, which were all too often. Chaplains were Carnes and, later, Fr. Roswog. Chaplains Assistants included Jeff Montbriand, a Ph.D. English professor from Minnesota or Wisconsin, and Brock Abramson, also from up there somewhere. We worked a lot with the orphanage at China Beach.

Message is: I know this is a crazy request but I met four marines on Friday Jan. 3,1997. Chris who is stationed in Mississippi, David who is stationed in California with his friend Joe, and the other is named Reggie.They came to NJ for David's wedding on Jan.4 1997.I met them at work in the Captain's Galley in Madison NJ, where they had the rehersal dinner. I would really like to get a hold of them but I have no idea how because I don't know there last names. Is there anyone that could help me? David is originally from Dover,NJ Chris is originally from Hawaii Joe is originally from Long Island,NY I don't know where Reggie is from I believe Chris and David are Marine pilots and Joe is a mechanic. I am pretty sure they are all friends, but I know for sure that they are all friends with David because all three were in his wedding party. Chris, Joe and Reggie stayed at the Courtyard Marriot on Route 10 and David went to Hawaii on his honeymoon.
