Message is: Mike McGarvey was 18 around 1969 and was in Viet Nam and was a radio operator for James Webb, (who later wrote the book "Fields of Fire", "A Sense of Honor" He served in Viet Nam as a Marine rifle platoon and company commander and also served in Congress as minority counsel to the House Vererans' Affairs Committee.) Mike lost his right arm to shrapnel. He is also friends with a Tom Martin who had both legs paralyzed do to a bullet to the spinal cord. In 1982 Mike was working as a parts manager at Lannie Boswell's Harley-Davidson dealership in Nashville. He had spent some time in Page, Arizona before he went to Nam. I wrote him while he was over there and saw him once after he got back. He had married and had a son named Bill. In November of 1982 in the Anchorage Daily News in the Parade section there was a two page article by James Webb with a picture of Mike, his son and Tom Martin. I have e-mailed James Webb but haven't heard from him and I have called Boswell shop but Mike no longer works there. I got on the internet and found a Mike McGarvey in Anchorge Ak who was in the Marines and did a tour on Viet Nam but was not the Mike I am looking for. I knew Mike in the late 60's and have been tring to find him since 87. If any of this info will help locate him could you give him my address and phone #.
