I had a brother who lived in Whittier at the time, not to far from Henry. We had a good time, and partied for a fat man. Would very much like to rekindle an old friendship. I heard through the grape vine that Henry might have been wounded, but that was so long ago. Any info would be appreciated. Something tells me he might of been with the 7th Marines?

At the time I wrote to him, which was in early 1970, he was a Lance Cpl. in the Marines and stationed in DaNang. We corresponded for probably 6 months before we lost contact. The true story is that I sent him brownies for his birthday and I never heard from him again! My son studied a unit on the Vietnam War this past year in his 7th grade social studies class and we pulled out all of my letters from "Bubba DeLoach" along with a POW bracelet I wore for another veteran who fortunately returned home in 1972. The letters he sent her were very graphic about what was going on. His last letter said that his unit was called back in to retake a hill (maybe Wai). He said in his letter that he would not make it back this time, he didn't. Why or how didi he know this, did he give up or did he know it was his time. He was killed by a land mine we were told. The day before he got killed he sent a letter to my mom-"we have been called in to retake a hill (wai?) and I do not think I will make it back from this mission. My mom was so upset to get this letter. She wrote him back but it was returned of coarse. Please let me know if you know any thing. His platoon instructer at camp was G. Sgt. C. Bell. He hit this person for saying some crude remarks and got sent to the brig. Randy was short but mean as hell. He would fight anyone at the drop of a hat.
