Message is: Maj. Robert A. Matthews was a US Marine Corps Fighter Pilot in the Vietnam War. He flew the F-4 Phantom Jet over North Vietnam. He stayed for a second tour and flew an Observaton Plane over the south. He was shot in the leg on his last mission. Later, he was stationed at New River Air Station in Jacksonville, NC. He left the Marine Corps as a Major. He was also in charge of a parachute club at Camp Geiger. He was stationed at Cherry Point, NC before going to Vietnam. I believe he was from Skokie, Ill. I last saw him in Florida near Miami. He married a lady from Panama. He was selling airplanes for a Japanese company and also owned a house in Plano, Tex.

Message is: I am trying to establish enough stressors to help this brother with his claim for PTSD. He was 0351, and worked mostly as a grunt. He lost his best friend in Vietnam, a guy by the name of Paquin. I found his name on the Virtual Wall,KIA 4/18/69. Can anyone verify that Paquin was with 3/26th? Mike got shot in the left arm, but has no documentation of a purple heart. Mike was originally from Greeneville, SC and spent many years living in the woods until his daughter found him and brought him to West Virginia. He has many blank spots in his memory. I have been treating him at the Vet Center for PTSD for over a year and I have diagnosed him wih chronic and severe PTSD. I too served as a grunt in the Army with the 173d Airborne Brigade in Nam and will do whatever I can to help a fellow brother. If anyone remembers Mike Woods or LCPL Paquin please contact me.
