I was kind of glad because it may hav meant that you lived and we found only one EM with you. He was white too. I was afraid that we missed the 3rd guy in the high grass. He was black so I was terrified that we had left him there all night in that cold high grass, but the 3rd KIA wasn't at Liberty Bridge eitherso we didn't miss him. Then I got the records of all three and I leanrned that none of them was on that patrol. I am sorry sarge. I was pretty shook up. I did real well considering it was only my second foot patrol. None of the guys with me were infantry either, all volunteers. Never did see the rest of your patrol. You should not have told them to go! after the NVA, leaving you behind. Still no idea what unit. 1-5 had the bridge but companies from all over the division were taking a week at bridge security. Others helped me look for you so now I am helping others look.

Message is: I am trying to find all of the Navy Corpsmen who served with B/1/9 (The Walking Dead) at Marble Mountain, South Vietnam in 1965-1966. So far, I have located HN Kenn Kuzmick, HN James Gordon, and HN James Tucker. I served as the Senior Corpsman of the Company for a time in 1966, relieving HM3 Pace. Doc Lewis saved my life on June 13, 1966, when I was wounded in a minefield trying to treat wounded Marines trapped there. My wounds eventually led to a Medical Retirement in February 1967. Doc Gordon was also severely wound at the same time. We shared a lot of hard times in Vietnam together, and shared a common bond, which was trying our best to take care of the Marines we served with. He passed away just before i was born in 1984 and i grew up admiring the courage, not only he had but the courage displayed by all branches of the military during those turbulent times.Although i must say my favor falls with the grunts of the USMC. I know that my uncle Ivor G.Smith walked away with shrappnel wounds(no info as to when or where)and the "Docs" were unable to remove a peice that lodged itself in his scull. I have his trusty Zippo which never left his side throughout his service, with the mighty ol' insignia of the VMA-223 and its "take no mess" mascot, the Fighting Bulldog on the front and the inscription "VMA-223 Chu Lai 1966-1967 " on the reverse side.I know The VMA-223 were all over Vietnam but only solid info i have is he was defenatly in Chu Lai. I also have his dogtags which read.... __________________ Smith I. G. 2169322 A USMC S __________________ I also have plenty of pictures and negatives of His boot camp experience, misc. pictures of Vietnam, the air base at Chu Lai and a bunch of guys i wish i had the pleasure of knowing and serving next to. I know the guys of my uncle's unit had a living mascot of their own, what looks to be like a small black and white Bulldog Pup (possibly another type of dog), which im sure was spoiled on left over k-rations. He would have spoke about his family back home in Manhattan New York, his Sister Diane, and Father and Mother(might have called her Mum) Alexander and Dorothy. Unfortunatly documentation is next to nill when it comes to these sort of things, so it is left up to the family or the buddys of those who served to do the countless hours of research to find the limited information that is out there. Its also unfortunate that with this limited information comes the realization that to those who were not touched in a personal sence by this conflict, its just a history lesson. I've had the enormous misfortune of not knowing my family, Most were lost to me before i was born and others before i was old enough to understand and grasp at any and all bit of wisdom and sence of how the world was through similar eyes. I'm sure all of you share the same feeling of loss i do. So now i am forced to grasp without a foothold. Message is: My late husband John Lewis Rogers II, also known as "JR" or "Bugs" was born in East Goldsboro NC Nov. 1943; graduated from high school in Chapel Hill NC 1961; graduated UNC 1964; served in the NC National Guard and then USMC, graduating from basic training Dec. 1965 at Paris Island, Company L, Platoon 294. I met him in 1997; he died in June 2004. I don't have much history on his service years and have no separation papers. He had always said to me that it would be difficult to get proof of his service in Vietnam because of the nature of his work there. From talking with other vets and friends it would appear that he served in Special Ops in the north. I found a lapel pin in his belongings that is MACVSOG. I know that he was a sergeant; he didn't talk much with me about his time in Vietnam. I would like to hear from vets who knew my husband and served with him; he was a special person and I want him to be remembered, especially by his grandsons. Since I was a pa! rt of his life for so few years I don't have much of his history to pass on to his grandsons. Any help would be greatly appreciated. He loved motorcycles, dogs, and me (!). Message is: I am looking for lance coroporal Felix D. Jamnitsky. He served in the Marines in Vietnam, was wounded in the spring of 1969 and was eventually transported to the U.S. Naval Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. where I had the honor of getting to know him. He was a 19 year old Russian Jewish kid from Vineland, New Jersey who served this country even though he wasn't a U.S. citizen. He arrived at the hospital with horrific wounds from a land mine to both of his legs. Ski received his Purple Heart, had his right leg amputated from the knee down and was awarded his U.S. citizenship, all within two months of his arrival. We visited one another's homes late in the summer of 1969 and by the time I was transferred to the West Coast we lost contact. I have tried on several occasions and through several different means to locate him with no luck. Ski, I have thought about you a thousand times over. You have inspired me in almost every aspect of my life over the past 35 years. I regret not having stayed in touch and hope life has been good and kind to you. I was a 2531-Radio operater with you in nam. I was in echo, fox, hotel, and gulf companies . The last time i say you was in our hooch in An Wah . Thats where my duffel bag and belongings were left when i got wounded. We were also at Liberty Bridge together . I`ve even checked the wall looking for you, but thank god your name isn`t on it.
