Message is: Two WIAs found in High Grass about 1/2-3/4 mile north east of Liberty Bridge. One was EM, the other squad leader E5-E6, 30s married with kids. he ordered his squad to chase the NVA leaving them behind. They were found by squad of transients from the gate. Never saw the rest of original patrol. We were joined by squad of grunts from bridge led by Lt. Medevac at Sundown. two hueys came in low searching for us then the Medevac CH 34. I have squad leader's dying words for his wife and kids. I believe he lived though. No E5-E6 KIA at time matches him. Would like to share his words with him and his family. been looking since I got on the internet Jan 2000. done a lot of research, had a lot of help and am still passing on that help. There must have been close to 50 Marines involved in the incident. The original patrol, My volunteer squad and the grunt squad that joined us. two gate guards, two gunship crews and a Ch-34 medevac. Somebody must remember the incident.! best and worst day of my Marine career.

He was incountry for only 4 months (a machine gun he carried) but he is having some flash backs now about some things that happened in the field before he woke up on the hospital ship. He wants to know what happened to his brothers and what happened to him. He is having bad memory problems now. We have tried to get military records but they tell us they are lost and only have the ones from the ship until his medical discharge. He remembers being on some hill, being under fire and I remember the name ChuLai, DuNang and Dimiliterize Zone (? spelling) All his belongings from there were lost before he came home, so he has no pictures to remind him of names of people. Message is: I found this book, "Speak Vietnamese", for sale at a yard sale at a school house on Taylor's Island, MD. I bought it with the intention to find it's rightful owner or family. My Grandfather was a WWII Vet and many of my Uncle's and my Aunt also served in different units over the years. I don't know how the book ended up there, I do know that if I had the opportunity to have anything that belonged to my Grandfather I would want it. The book is personalized and part of history.
